Page 5: Play Seasons & Content Roadmap

Overview

To keep the small Miyoo community engaged over time without bloating the base game, RPG98 uses a lightweight seasonal model. Each season lasts approximately 3–4 months and introduces focused new content while preserving the core high-stakes extraction identity.

Season Philosophy

Seasons are not massive overhauls. They are focused bursts of new content that feel meaningful but respect the Miyoo’s hardware limits and the game’s core loop. The goal is to give players fresh reasons to return while keeping the base experience stable and balanced.

What Happens Each Season

  • 1–2 new dungeon themes with new tile combinations from our Super Retro Roguelike + ELV asset mix.
  • New enemy variants and boss patterns.
  • 8–12 new legendary items, Ability Tomes, and augments.
  • New crafting components and occasional Aether Cores as rewards.
  • Limited-time seasonal events (e.g., increased drop rates or bonus Compactor spawns).

What Stays Stable

  • Core extraction loop and death penalties.
  • Base classes and starter abilities.
  • Town hub layout (Blackthorn Hollow) and major NPCs.
  • Fundamental gear progression rules (rarity, affixes, augment slots, Crux & Aether).
  • Performance targets on Miyoo hardware.

Community Engagement & Update Cadence

  • Each season includes a clear changelog and preview of what’s coming next.

Connection to Core Systems

  • New seasons introduce fresh crafting components and Ability Tomes that feed the Aether Forge.
  • Weekly tasks occasionally reward Aether Cores or rare components, encouraging players to try higher portal modes.
